SO… I finally bit the bullet and when out and spent a nice, solid 100 bucks on a good pair of shoes. I needed them.

With all my distance running and training, my year-old asics were hurting my knees, shins, and hips. It wasn’t a good situation.

So - meet my new pair, by Saucony - a company I’d never heard of.

I can happily report that I have NO blisters or chafing, which is huge, and my ankles feel very supported in these, as well. However, my heels hurt. I’m not sure why - the under part. That may be my own fault, or it may be the shoes. We’ll see how I feel in the coming week or so.

I’ve been being a good girl when it comes to slowing myself down for my distances… I am moving from trying to average an 8 per mile to an 830/845 for anything over 8 miles. Its a lot easier on my body, and it’ll make moving to full-distance marathon training a much smoother transition after my half is over.

On the Lyme front, the meds are making me really tired and definitely mess with my body as far as confusing it when it comes to sleep and food. I have to purposefully eat about 8 mini meals a day in order to get my calories, because I get extremely full very fast - for no reason I can understand!

It also makes me exhausted, but can also keep me awake, despite that feeling of being totally wiped out. I used to fall asleep around 10/1030, but now it’s been more like 1130/12 every night. Not cool, since I get up around 5/530 pretty regularly!

I also got the neatest socks EVER - they have a little “lip” that raises up in the back of the heel, and has a teeny bit of padding, to keep from heel blisters! Of course, being a long-time runner, my heels are rough and chafed already, but it’s nice not to develop any new blisters or calluses on top of what damage has already been done!

Dominating thought of the day:

I can’t WAIT to run outside.

Saucony…I’ve had one pair of those. Hopefully they do well for you!
Have you tried the socks that are double layered? They help protect against blisters as well.
Not sure why your heel is hurting…not enough cushion in the shoes maybe? Hope not!
And yeah, running outside ROCKS! :-)
