So I’m very tired, but I’m so excited! I ran an “EASY” 18.5 miles today. I paced between an 8:30 and a 9 the entire time, but next time I run that distance I’m going to pace a lot faster, because it was too easy. I know that might sound cocky, but I think because I was used to running an hour to an hour and a half at a 7:40 or 7:50 per mile, trying to pull back to the almost 9-min mile is actually too easy. BUT, that said, since I haven’t run more than 14 in a while, (and that only once!) I wanted to take it slow. My knees, hips, and quads are already sore, but not bad - I LOVE my new Sauconys! How many times can you say that your shoes kept your feet blister free for 20 miles?? (I walked 1.5 at the end - slowly…) My feet feel great, and I just feel like I accomplished something really cool (despite not feeling necessarily like I worked “hard” enough, because I’m so used to running at a breathless pace, if you know what I mean…)

I’m gonna need some good R&R today - wishing for a massage, but, well, finances are low!

The funny thing about these long run days is that I actually don’t get very hungry afterwards. I did some carb-loading yesterday evening, so I felt like I had plenty of stamina (I only had a banana before running this morning, because I’d rather not run with a full stomach…) but I’m really not hungry (I AM eating, however, so that I don’t wind up starving tomorrow… and I know I need the energy!)…

My diet has been going really well (higher protein lower fat higher “good” carbs) except for that one bad day… I’m overall pleased with it, and I think I’ve had more energy. In fact, eating “extra” last night made me feel really sick, which is a sign that my body isn’t used to eating those foods anymore - which is great!

That said, I’m off to have a nice hard boiled egg and some flax seed thins for a snack - post oatmeal, apple, and lara bar… yum.

TTFN!
